We are both early 30's, full-time working professionals. We live in rural Alaska (Bethel), and are seeking someone to join our family and care for our 4 month old son (Sawyer) while we are at work. During most of the year the husband works regular hours (Mon-Friday 8-5), but summers (May-August) he is gone in the field conducting research. The wife works semi-regular hours year round (Mon-Friday; 8-5:30). We have a well trained small dog, and letting him out to potty a couple of times a day would be required.
We live in a 2 story 3 bed/2 bath home. You will have the master bedroom with attached bath. The bedroom is fully furnished with a double bed, nightstand, tv with blueray player, and closet. The living room has cable tv, a decent movie collection, and wifi.

Husband hunts and fishes, and we live a partially subsistence lifestyle. Most protein we eat is wild game (duck, goose, moose, caribou, deer, bear, salmon, other fish). Game processing occurs in the garage, so you will see (or learn?) animals being processed. We are outdoorsy, with boats, ATV's, snow machines, kayaks, go camping, etc.
Sawyer is 4 months old, and is a happy baby. He recently started rolling over, loves learning and playing, and has become talkative. He is breastfed/ bottle fed pumped milk. We use cloth diapers.

We are educated, clean, organized and respectful. We do not smoke, do drugs, and only drink socially.
* Care for Sawyer 7:45- 5:00 Monday-Friday while we are at work (September- April)
- feed, change, bathe if needed, pick up toys, play with, go on walks/park, go to activities, etc
*Care for Sawyer roughly 7:45- 6 pm Monday-Friday during summer when Husband
is gone conducting research (May-August).
*Assist on weekends if needed (Will be compensated, and notice given ahead of time)
* Occasional meal prep and cooking.
*Be part of the family: play with dog, love our son, be social and friendly with us and our friends, enjoy dinners together

What is an Infant Nanny in Bethel, AK

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Bethel, AK? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
