The Kopy Family - Hiring in Rochester

A little bit about us

Just need pick up and brief childcare between when he gets out of school and when I get out of work, probably only 2-3 hours at most Wed-Friday. And for 6-7 hours on Saturdays while I am working. May potentially increase to day time care Wed-Fri while I am working once school years ends towards the end of June. Kiddo is 6 in a few weeks. On the spectrum and high functioning, he is able to feed himself, cloth himself, communicate just fine, occupy and play by himself, etc. He is very kind and wants to be helpful and make good choices, but he is hyper/adhd and we are working on impulse control which sometimes impacts his ability to do those things. Someone comfortable with that is perfect.

How should I prepare for a nanny interview?

Preparing for a nanny interview is much like preparing for any other job interview. You'll want to learn about the family's needs and expectations, and be ready to provide clear, detailed answers to their questions. Don't forget to bring a list of references and any necessary certifications (like CPR or First Aid) with you. Also, consider preparing a list of questions you want to ask, such as their parenting philosophy, the children's routines, and any special needs the children might have. Get a better understanding on how to ace the nanny interview process with our helpful guide.

What does the nanny interview process look like?

The nanny interview process often involves several stages. It typically begins with a phone or video interview, followed by an in-person interview with the parents. If all goes well, the family may invite you for a "working interview," where you'll spend some time with the children under the parents' supervision. This gives everyone a chance to see how you interact with the kids. What is a nanny contract and why is it important?

A nanny contract is a written agreement between you and the family that clearly outlines job expectations, working hours, salary, benefits, and more. It's an essential part of professional nanny work because it sets clear boundaries and expectations, and can help prevent misunderstandings in the future. Our nanny contracts page provides more information on what to include in your contract.

Why should I consider using a nanny payroll service?

Using a nanny payroll service simplifies the often complex process of handling taxes, benefits, and other financial considerations of being a nanny. Many nannies are considered household employees, not independent contractors, which means that the families they work for are responsible for withholding and paying certain taxes. A nanny payroll service can help manage these tasks, ensuring everything is handled legally and accurately. For more information about nanny payroll, visit our nanny payroll page.
