The nanny should help our eight year old to enjoy the summer without in-person summer camp. When school starts up again, we will need help with pick up and drop off for the older one (10 minute walk to school). If we continue distance learning in the fall, she will need regular help logging into zoom meetings, navigating web assignments, and organizing her day. Ideally, our nanny would have something to add to her daily learning experience while engaging our toddlering in fun activities! We would also like our nanny to help with some light housekeeping (transferring laundry, emptying dishwasher) and prepare lunch for the kids.
Because mom does shift work, the exact schedule would vary each week. There will usually be one week a month where the work is M-F 9-6; the rest of the month days will be half days (M-F, 4 hours/day), totaling about 105 hours / month. An ideal candidate would have a driver's license and access to a car. However, we would also consider candidates without a car, as long as they are able to get to our house. (We live close to several bus lines and the red line, but understand that this may not be a good option during COVID times). We do expect that our nanny will be careful about social distancing and follow local regulations with the children.

Most of the job is being very present with our happy-go-lucky kid, and making sure to speak with him, read him books, play music, and enjoy outdoor time. He is very friendly and loves new people. We would ask the nanny to avoid screentime, and otherwise be there to play, coordinate meals and naptime, and do small chores when there is time.
We are located in Somerville, less than a 10 min walk from the green line in Magoun and 15 min walk from the red line/commuter rail in Porter. We have a driveway with parking as well, a fenced side yard with grass for the kids to play, and a dedicated play room with gates and a kids' bathroom.
