I babysat when I was younger, and also nannied for an autistic girl who was 18 and non-verbal and lived in with her and her father when I was 20, and than when I moved to Colorado I nannied for a little girl named Elizabeth who was 2 years old almost 3. All of the experiences were great.

I first began babysitting a 3 year old boy named Jacob and a 1 year old girl named Kaylee. I would stay with them Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to about 4:30 a.m. We would eat breakfast first thing when I arrived in the morning (usually eggs-Jacob's favorite). Then we might watch a movie, or a tv show. Later on we would go for a walk or to the park. Occasionally we would go to the pool! We had nap time at the same time every day. Around 3:00p.m. we would start to clean up. We always made sure to have fun and when the day would end I didn't want to leave. I was a nanny to Jacob and Kaylee for a little over a year. I continued my childcare career by watching two 8 year old twin boys named Aiden and Caleb. The job started out as a summer job but continued into the school year. I would help them with their homework, take them to baseball practice, cook them dinner, wash clothes and dishes, etc. I stayed with the family for 2 years until they moved. Next I cared for a young girl named Zoey. I started watching her when she was about 2 months old and continued from when she was a little over 2 years old. She would come to my house when I would watch her, usually on weekdays, because her mother worked so close to where I lived. Sometimes we would go to her office and bring her lunch and have a short visit and Zoey loved to see her mother at work! Zoey started preschool, so I no longer am a nanny to her, but on occasion I do still watch her on weekends for her parents to go out to dinner and such. I also have a 6 month old daughter so I am learning new things everyday from her and I cherish every moment I spend with her!

I have worked in the childcare industry for 12 years. I worked at a preschool for 8 years where I was a 3 and 4 year old teacher. I also provided daycare in the afternoon for ages 5 to 12. I have also been a nanny for the past 4 years. The ages of the children range from 6 wks to 12 years old.

Kayla R.

This was our first experience with a sitter and we were so impressed with the level of care Kayla provided. She was thoughtful in her interactions with the children. I would recommend her services to anyone. My children woke up asking for her to return again. We are thankful for Kayla and the chance to get away from home and relax. - Joshua

Olivia P.

Olivia was very responsible, had great time management, and very flexible. She always kept the kids entertained by coloring, playing outside, completing puzzles, and taking them to activities. My kids were always so excited for the days when Olivia would come and watch them. I would highly recommend Olivia if anyone is in need of a sitter! - Madison

Larrita B.

Larrita is the most hard-working person I have ever worked alongside. She is trustworthy and reliable, and she loves children. - Marvera

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in McCalla, AL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

McCalla Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in McCalla? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in McCalla?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in AL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
