A little bit about me…

Hi I’m Hannah! When I had my baby in February I decided not to go back to teaching. I would love to find a family that would allow me to bring my little guy along most days with the exception of when my husband is off.

I am fully vaccinated. Non smoker, safe reliable transportation, clean driving record. Cpr & first aid certified, I will renew my Red Cross water safety if family has a pool.

Im Canadian but have lived here for 6 years with my American husband. I speak English and Canadian French but also have experience working with English Language learners. I’m teaching my son French and ASL.

I can definitely help out with more than just child care and don’t mind laundry, cleaning, cooking or other things that may make your day easier.

Reach out and I can send you a little more about me to see if I would be a good fit for your family!

A little bit about me…

Hi! my name is Hanna.
I am an energetic and engaging young woman living in the greater portland area looking for a full time nanny position.
I have over 5 years of experience working with kids at home and in a school setting, and have both CPR and first aid certificates.
one of my favorite parts of having the opportunity to work in childcare is being able to work and grow with the children and making bonds with them and their families,
my idea is to foster independent thought while providing boundaries to help each child feel supported as they learn about the world.

Hi my names samantha and I’ve been working with kids for about 16 years on and off starting when I was around 10 taking care of my neighbors 3 daughters and then also worked in a daycare for some time. I’ve worked in group homes as well so I am trained for any type of situation that may pop up and am available for either part time or to cover date nights. Please feel free to send me a message and see if I could be a good fit to take care of your loved one(s)!

A little bit about me…

Hello! My name is Em and I’m a USM college student looking to find a new and encouraging way to make money, while also helping out people who desperately need it, especially during a pandemic
Other than class time I am available 24/7
Until my car gets serviced I’m not comfortable carpooling children just in case it were to break down, but I do have a license and will eventually get a new car.
A little background on me, I’m a History Education major at the university of southern Maine so I have a lot of experience with children
I am willing to help with remote learning, homework, housework, laundry, groceries or other errands, and I am vaccinated so if your child needs to quarantine due to illness I am willing to help safely.
Although I’ve never been a nanny before I know it’s the perfect job for me, and I’m excited to begin this journey.

A little bit about me…

Hi, my name is Maegan! I am going into my junior year of college at Simmons University studying nursing. I have been working with kids since I started babysitting at 14. Usually, I work as a part-time nanny over the summers. For me this fall I am enrolled in classes, they are online so I will be busy doing that, but maybe there is a schedule we could work out, even if it's one or two times a week! I would love to help out when I can!

A little bit about us…

Hello! Seeking nanny for overnights.
We currently have 1 child but will have a second come January.
We also have a very sweet golden retriever, a self-sufficient cat, and hens in the back yard.
My husband and I work nights together with a flexible schedule. Ideally, we would work 2-3 nights in a row per week and would need someone to stay overnight and part of the day between our shifts so we can sleep. You will be able to have time off during the late afternoon/evening in between night shifts after we have slept. We would prefer a 10 nights per month commitment but this may be negotiable. We would need to make the schedule with you a couple months in advance.
We could either pay salary (your pay would be steady rate while hours may fluctuate by week or month although they will never go over your agreed upon total hours) or you can have a fixed hourly rate (paychecks would fluctuate based on number of hours).
Pay can be negotiated--salary, hourly, or hourly day/night differential. Looking at about 30K/year, $15/hr. Of note, the majority of your hours will be overnight sleeping hours, which should make for easier work.
We have a spare room made up for you for now until our guest apartment has completed its current construction.
We may be open to a live-in if you prefer if the arrangement is going well.
Would like to have someone full-time, long-term starting spring. Will do trials this winter to see if it is a good fit for all.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Scarborough, ME

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Scarborough Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Scarborough? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Scarborough?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in ME? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
