A little bit about me…

Hello! I have 3 grown children, 2 of whom I homeschooled through high school. I have taught early education and worked in childcare in some fashion for most of my adult career and early childhood education and development is my passion. I am looking to find a sweet family in need of care for their little one(s) so that I can maybe continue to pass on that passion and joy for learning.

"I am a first time mom and was VERY nervous about finding care for my daughter. Christina has been SUCH a pleasure to work with & eased all of my anxieties immediately! I trust her immensely. She is professional & such a good partner to our household- always checking in & respecting whatever our preference is for our daughter. In watching both my daughter & my niece (15mo&5yr), She has done an amazing job managing 2 very different parenting styles between myself & my sister. With her knowledge and experience, she has brought routine as well as many educational & developmental activities to our home. She taught our kids so much during her short time with us this summer. We have a big temperamental dog who takes some warming up to. She handled this interaction with him so well. Now they're best friends! It's nice to see our grumpy old pup warm up to someone so quickly which also provides us another evening babysitter option without having to board him! Thank you Christina!"

A little bit about me…

A little about me:
For the past 3 years I've specifically worked with families relocating to Kansas city from out of state, or out of country.
This past year I worked 50+ hours weekly as a Household manager, with 2 children in school. Left to have my first child, who is now 2 months.
• As well as in the process of updating my CPR/First aid certification, I am also learning carseat safety through the state of Missouri, taking classes to become a NBCS/certified Sleep trainer and plan on training as a Postpartum doula after. Childcare has always been my passion, and what I excel at. Motherhood has made it that much more special for me.

A little bit about me…

Hi! I'm Nikita. After being a lead teacher in a preschool and being so passionate about watching my class grow together, I decided to make my way into nannying to help kiddos grow individually to ensure I can foster their personal interests best. Before being a preschool teacher, I studied psychology at Hawai’i Pacific University, which has given me tools to aid in the development of your kiddo’s emotional maturity, social behaviors, and self image.

"I only put a date for end of working with me that is not true she is still working with me and for me. We lived in the same home when I had my first child. Then she started babysitting regularly for me if I need a rest of want yo take a bath, watch while I was in my night classes. She then moved in with us around 2015. But she left me to go to school in 2017 - 2019 I believe. But even then when ever she came home she always had something for them or took them with her for several hrs. She is a very sweet and trustworthy Christian young lady. I have never seen her harm or miss treat a child or parent. She is great at finding inside and outside games and activities that is right for each child age. You can’t go wrong hiring her. And this is 5 children ranging from 5-14 years old."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Kansas City, MO

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Kansas City Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Kansas City? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Kansas City?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MO? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
