A little bit about me

Hello! I am a well established childcare provider, past therapeutic foster parent and parent of two now grown children. I am looking for another family for our nanny share. I have been in home daycare center for 20+ years, then a nanny for about 7 years. With covid and ever growing inflation I decided to do more of a nanny share. I offer care to less children than a daycare yet split the cost between families so the quality care of a nanny is still affordable and there is less chance of spreading covid than in a center.
I have a resume with references and a cover letter with details that I can send via email upon request! Feel free to reach me at [email hidden]
Have a great day!

"Diane Rizzi was employed with us as a full-time nanny for our son since November 2022 until June 2024. She has been an important part of our family during this time. Diane is kind, caring, trustworthy, and committed. She works hard towards creating a stimulating and nurturing environment. Diane has consistently shown that she has a thorough awareness of my son's evolving abilities, interests, and requirements by being proactive in organizing playdates and educational activities. Diane has been able to build a trustworthy relationship with my son because she is kind and gentle with him. She has played an important role in my son developing social-emotional abilities, coping strategies for managing his separation anxiety, and consistent routines for preschool readiness. Diane has constantly shown herself to be very dependable, trustworthy, and punctual. She communicates clearly and effectively. I highly recommend Diane Rizzi to any family seeking a skilled and devoted nanny."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Raleigh, NC

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Raleigh Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Raleigh? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Raleigh?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NC? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
