A little bit about me

I have over 16 years of working experience as a Nanny in the Aurora-Naperville area. During these years, worked primarily with three families taking care of children ages 0 to 7 years old. I provided meals, play, diapering, crafts, hands-on educational activities as well as Spanish language and pre-school training for young children. During my employment with these three families I did not have any problems communicating with them even though I am not fluent in English. On the contrary, the children benefited from it by learning a lot of Spanish. I used smart phone translation to communicate with the parents. Again, communication was never a problem. My background as a pre-school teacher helped prepared the children under my care for kindergarten.

I was a teacher assistant in the Dual Language Program - Kindergarten - morning and afternoon for Oswego School District 308, for one year during 2007.
I was a school teacher (kindergarten to first grade) for ten years (1990 to 2000) in my native country Colombia.

I enjoy teaching and developing young children. I also care a lot about the well being of the children and their safety. I like to teach them to read and speak Spanish, and to play and perform learning experiences with the children. I like to teach them values and norms established by the parents, so they have an integral formation since early age.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Christmas 2019 was particularly sweet. I gave the children the presents they wanted, a blanket and a doll to have in the car. They were not allowed to open the presents until Christmas Eve. I received video clips of the moment when they opened the presents, and their reactions were amazing and made a lasting memory for me.
