About 4 years ago I was babysitting for a neighbor. Their child was a little over 3 years old at the time. I had gotten permission to take her to a local zoo I was volunteering for at the time. We spent the whole day there walking around interacting with all the animals. She even got to experience what my typical day as a volunteer zookeeper was like. 2 days later I got a call from her mother saying that ever since our trip she hasn’t stopped talking about animals and how she wants to work with them just like me. Hearing that she wanted to be like me and now she has a passion for animals at a young age genuinely brought me to tears and further fueled my passion to not only work with kids but to also educate them.
