I also have experience working with children who have mental health and other behavioral manners. I love teaching/learning from my kids for example, asking them what you want to eat today? we have option (A) and (B). and when their having a bad day, I remind them of all the fun good things we still have time to do, or I talk to them and ask them how their feeling and what can we do to make it better. I am also a Firm believer of, Parents Knows Best. so, I won't go against what mom and dad said or what I was told to do. I have kids I know how would react to anyone going against my mommy wishes so your child is safe and fully cared for as if I was looking to pay for a nanny.
