- Growing up, my mother ran a full-time, full house daycare from our home. I would assist her with the daily tasks of caring for the children ranging in age from two months to 11 years old. I learned everything from her! Amazing. - During my college years, I had the opportunity to nanny for a very busy, loving and wonderful family for three years; it wasn't long before I became "part of the family!" Job responsibilities/duties were typical of nanny work: School, meal and snack prep, transportation to/from activities, supervising play dates, exploring their interests (visiting a museum, going to the theater/park/library etc.), homework help, and light housework. - I also have acquired over three years of one-on-one teaching experience; tutoring/mentoring (through children and adolescents whose learning and social function levels/abilities covered a wide spectrum - In addition, I have six years experience as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Working as a Lifeguard and WSI, I have gained valuable hands-on experience working with children of all ages, skill levels, and a variety of behavioral problems, learning, and developmental disorders including Autism, ADD/ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, hearing impaired, etc. I developed, planned, and organized weekly lesson plans for each of my classes while maintaining a quality, structured and fun, learning environment for all my students.

I love the satisfaction I feel when I know I've made a child smile, or had helped them to have had a great day. I'm laid back and easy to talk to, and I love being silly and creative. I think I'm very responsible, as well as reliable. A good enough mixture of personality and character to bring a child a positive experience. I like being in a warm loving environment and I hope to be only an addition of comfort and security to you and your family.

I have 20+ years experience as a teacher and childcare provider with children ages 3-17. The best part of my most recent experiences, is accomplishing to achieve a deep understanding and connection into each individual child’s personality. It's an honor having to take part in Inspiring the beauty from with-in a child's heart. A receptive loving heart of a child is like a zillion rays of sunshine on an autumn day. I recently spent 3 years living abroad in Costa Rica, directing, teaching, and coordinating 2 After School Programs. It was my privilege to have worked with 5 local community public schools and their children. My weekly responsibility consisted of 12-23 children, at the same time. Enjoying field excursion adventures, a day at beach, a swim in the river, bird watching, acts of community service, practiced health and safety rules, recycled arts and crafts, created presentations, painted a large mural, self-expression with music and dance, cooking, baking, games, in-door and out-door time. Children are so much fun to be with. They are our present and future gifts. It's an important responsibility for me, and for all caregivers to gently teach and guide their young hearts, preparing them to be their best for tomorrows generation. Always caring, guiding, and praising their value. They are our future leaders. So that makes them extra special in my heart!

We love our nanny, Shelly, and you will, too!!! We are an artist and a writer with a happy, outgoing 2.5-yr-old daughter who loves playing with kids of all ages. She will be going to the Smith St. Maternelle in September from 9-2:30 five days a week, and we are looking for a nanny share from 2:30-6:30 or 7:00. Shelly is either looking for someone who needs mornings/early afternoons (8:00-1:30ish, depending on how far you live from Henry St. and 1st Pl.), or she can care for your child all day and you can get a discount on the last 4 hours of the day, plus school holidays and vacations.

Shelly has been working for us since our daughter was 5 months old and we couldn't be happier -- she is so warm and loving and smart and fun (our daughter will often tell us that Shelly is her best friend)! Also always on time, good communication, all that stuff. She has a great network of other nannies in the neighborhood and there are always activities, trips, parties, crafts, etc.

A couple of Shelly's nanny friends are caring for baby siblings as well as toddlers, so if you have a baby, this might be ideal.

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met.
