A little bit about me

Hello there, my name is Alexa! I spent the last year working as a Lead Teacher in a preschool, with 8-11 toddlers in my care everyday. I am looking for a nannying position where I can still fulfill my passion for working with children, while getting the opportunity to work within a more personalized, one-on-one environment. I have ample experience working with children, doing daily logs, activities and meal prepping. Let me put your mind at ease while you are at work, knowing that your children are in the care of an experienced, creative, compassionate and nurturing individual.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a preschool teacher, working with toddlers from about 15 months to 2.5 years old. I led the classroom, completed detailed daily logs for the children and executed my own daily lesson plans.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I especially enjoy storytime, outdoor play activities and sensory activities. With my toddlers, storytime was a big deal and they loved specific books and would read along with me. I also planned fun things for outdoor play, which was their favorite part of the day. Sensory activities such as making a small bubble bath for farm animals is a great way to expose the children to water, texture and while also taking the opportunity to practice things like washing hands. There are so many learning opportunities to be had while having fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that the most important part of being a nanny is infusing education and learning opportunities with fun during the day. Of course, there are practical things that have to be done, like diapers, meals, ensuring safety, and the like. But the hours of the day that the children are with me are important moments for growth and development, and it is incredibly important to me that I instill creativity, learning and growth into everything I do with your little ones.

My experience with special needs children...

I volunteered with an equestrian therapy center, which focused solely on therapy for special needs children and adults. There, I learned the intricacies of working with special needs individuals and fell in love with their unique, individualized ways of communicating with and interacting with the world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I always sang specific songs to the children everyday during circle time with visual aids, such as "You are My Sunshine" and "Itsy Bitsy Monkey" and one day, one of my students started singing them to me in a little voice and when I encouraged her to sing, she started belting the words out! Another student began reciting the words to "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" to me while we were reading and I let her take the lead and "read" for the class! It was such a joy to see them soaking in the language so effortlessly.
