Hi, I am a dedicated childcare worker who would love to help your family! I have worked as a private nanny for a little under a year then I worked at HeadStart for 2.5 years! I recently relocated to El Mirage to be closer to family in Suncity but would love to stay within childcare. I am looking to nanny or provide occasional care while keeping my schedule mostly aligned with my elementary aged kids. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a HeadStart teacher for 2.5 years with Round Valley HeadStart. Our program served children one and walking up to five years old. I absolutely adored my time there and learned so much. Our program was more Montessori leaning, with children learning at their own pace, and through play being the main focus. We very much focused on social emotional with the idea being that children cannot learn in school if they cannot understand and calm their own emotions. As a program, we also taught self-help skills; the children were expected to clean up after themselves (ex. getting a towel to try to wipe up a spill before a teacher fully cleaned it). I feel as though this approach helps kids become more independent, and they begin to push themselves to achieve more.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love child-led activities! I feel that it is the caregiver's goal to set up an engaging activity, and it is up to the children to find the magic within! I feel that when children are allowed to explore and learn at their own pace, the experience becomes more valuable. Whether simple or complex, children have a gift for finding the fun in everything.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny in my opinion is giving parents peace of mind. Trusting someone with your precious children is such an honor that should not be broken. I feel as though as long as it they are safe, reasonable requests nannies should be meeting those needs for parents regardless of the way they would do it. Everyone parents so differently and I feel your nanny should complement your style of parenting to limit any confusion for the children.

My experience with special needs children...

With my time with HeadStart, I did get some experience with children with special needs. The most frequent tended to be autism, environmental delays, and undiagnosed behaviors. I have had several children with IEPs (individualized education plan), IFSPs (individualized family service plan), as well as PSFs (personal solution framework). I have especially enjoyed my time servicing these children and learning new ways to assist them in their learning journey. My heart is so happy as I see them grow. Our program utilized many tools to assist our children, especially those on the spectrum, by providing sensory activities, weighted stuffed toys, visual schedules, audio materials, and more. I will admit I am not super well-versed in giving medication if needed, but I am more than willing to learn.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nannying moment was after I had left my previous family, but was invited to a soccer game. I had not seen the kiddos in around 8 months at this time, as our schedules kept conflicting. Seeing how much they had grown in that time was crazy. The smiles and hugs I was met with brought tears to my eyes. The youngest was talking so clearly, and the second youngest was about to start kindergarten. Seeing the older kids beam with pride as they told me about their new teachers, friends they had made, and memories we shared made my heart so beyond happy. When the littles had remembered me, I felt intense happiness knowing I must have made a difference to those little guys.
