A little bit about me

I am stepping back into the childcare waters (partly). Though most my background does involve childcare, either through nannying or in a professional setting, my main job right now is managing a small medical office in Denver. And I really just miss child care! My child care experience includes being a babysitter, nanny, preschool teacher and youth development leader. A youth development leader basically just means I worked with elementary aged kiddos running after school clubs and summer programs.

Personally, I love to get outside and adventure to new places (hike, meander, ski, etc) but I also have the craft gene which tends to take up lots of time! After work I will likely be crafting or reading, while on weekends I will be finding a new (or a favorite) place to see. I might be in the mood for a hike, but also just grabbing a coffee and reading my book somewhere pretty!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I moved to CO in January of 2020, I was ready to change career paths! I was getting burnt out in the rigid preschool environment where I had been teaching for the 4+ years prior. Then COVID happened and I met an awesome family where I was their nanny for their 2 and 5 year old girls. Both kiddos were homebound when schools closed. I did online school with the 5 year old some days, but also implemented my own learning activities for both girls.

Once school in the fall, the 5 year old went back to school while I stayed with the 2 year old. We had a fun filled year of one on one learning, activities and outside fun! She went to school the next year and I went back to the office, where I am currently office manager.

I've continued to babysit the girls during school breaks and occasionally throughout the summer, and though the girls do still enjoy when I am over, they just need me less now!

I have babysat and nannied for many families over the past 15 years and to this day.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to get outside, so: parks, hiking trails, epic hopscotch games, swimming, obstacle courses, scavenger/riddle hunts, etc.

Inside: I LOVE crafting! So: beads, painting, paper crafts, art in general, etc. Plus, playing games (epic 5 hour games of monopoly for the win!), and dramatic play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I love being able to see how kids change and how they grow! Providing opportunities for developmental growth while still having fun is where I shine.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a little experience caring for kiddos with special needs but I am open to learning more specifics!

I also do have experience caring for kiddos with special medical needs (diabetics, severe allergies, etc).

The most important part about being a nanny...

A few years ago, we made a hopscotch that turned into an epic neighborhood game! It ended up taking up the whole driveway and went down the sidewalk. Kids from a few different houses on the street came to play until the rain washed it away a few days later.
