Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a part time nanny for a family for 2.5 years now! I started when their son was 7 months old and he is now 2 and they just welcomed their daughter who is 8 months old! I provided one on one care to the children and played a role in their development. I worked on motor skills with their son and even helped in potty training! We worked a lot on speaking and our letters and proper behavior. I made the children's food and helped prep meals. There were dietary issues so keeping to a plan was key! I had great open and honest communication with the family which truly was amazing!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love going outside! Taking a walk or going to the park is always a must do when it's nice outside! I'm big on crafts so crayons, markers and glue are my thing! I nannied for a little boy who will someday be in the MLB so practicing any hobby is always good with me! I love to be on the go, I love staying busy and having a good time, but even busy bees get tired and just need a good movie day every once in awhile! My comfort movies are Matilda, The Goonies, and any Barbie Movie
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is establishing trust not only with the parents but with the children as well. It's a huge deal to leave your children in the care of someone else especially someone you just met. I understand the uncertainty at first and the feeling of having to get to know someone, making it even more difficult when they are caring for you. My goal is to create a safe, nurturing, kind, and fun environment where everyone is heard, seen, valued and fed after a long day at school!
My experience with special needs children...
I am currently in my senior year at Alvernia University studying Early Education and Special Education. I have completed 20+ hours observing in a special needs classroom. And have some experience with Autism. As always your child's safety is number one so learning your child and their own individual needs is key.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I began nannying for a family when their son was 7 months old. He is now 2 and seeing his growth has been so amazing. He started as just a little but very vocal baby and now he is forming sentences. His personality is one of a kind and now being able to help with their daughter has been a gift itsself. I feel honored that they trust me to be such a huge part of their children's lives especially in the early years!
