A little bit about me…

Hi, I'm Amy. Thanks for checking out my profile!

I started babysitting independently at age 11 and I still love it. I've held many childcare positions over the past 30 years including babysitter and nanny. I'm currently interested in both or either on a part time basis.

As a mature adult it's easy to relate to the demands of parenthood. I want to provide a sense of ease and stability. I consider myself responsible, gentle yet firm, empowering and available. Others describe me as enthusiastic, warm, and patient.

I really enjoy teaching basic life skills and incorporating learning into everyday experiences. A typical day with me will involve playing outside, arts and crafts, reading books, dancing, singing and clean up games.

I have a childcare style but like to be in tune with the parents. Please feel free to tell me about your parenting style and personal philosophies.

I look forward to hearing from you!

A little bit about me…

Hi everyone! I’m Summer, I’m a 25 year old mom of one. I am looking to bring my daughter with me to work if we find the right fit, she is 2! I am CPR and first aid trained and certified. I have been working with children for 10 years, I have my associates degree in early childhood education as well. Being a nanny has always been special to me, I love the bond we all create as one and the help we can offer each other with the children and crazy work schedules. I love arts and crafts, going to the park, and baking. I take part in Montessori activities and lots of dance parties. I appreciate good communication, and team work to raise our babies together! If you think I’d be a good fit and you’d like to talk more I’d love to hear from you!

"Summer was absolutely wonderful with my child. She would take her to the park almost daily, or did something outside as much as possible. She also, did lots of dance parties which my child absolutely loved. She was very dependable and responsible. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to add someone to their family."

A little bit about me…

I'm Jess, I'm a licensed professional counselor who has been working with kids and families in West Philly for the last ten years as a nanny, school counselor, and family therapist. I've enjoyed supporting kids and families in their growth, having the opportunity to play, and the sweetness that spending time with children brings to my life. It is one of the greatest honors of my life to be a part of the emotional lives of children and families and shape them as my experiences with them shape me. I've enjoyed my roles as consultant, collaborator, and companion in the families I've worked with in the past and am interested in working with a family who values clear communication, gentleness, compassion, mutual respect, and playfulness.

In my free time I love to cook, travel, spend time outdoors, host big parties for my chosen family, volunteer for an herbal medicine mutual aid project, and sing made up songs to my cat.

"Jess cared for our kiddo from the time kiddo was 5 months old, until she was just about 18 months. The only reason our engagement ended was Covid, when the nanny share we were in dissolved due to lockdown. Jess is very caring and calm, and it truly helped me as a new parent, to be able to hand my child off each workday morning knowing that she would be looking after my child. Jess always made sure to give us feedback from the day, which was super helpful, especially as we were navigating the change from bottles to solid food. My kiddo loved spending time with Jess (and her nanny share buddy). Engagement and outdoor play is important, and Jess always made sure that both kids in the Nanny share had plenty of both. Without hesitation, we recommend Jess to any parent seeking not just a caregiver, but a partner in nurturing their child's growth. If we ever decided to have another child there's no doubt in our minds – Jess would be our nanny in a heartbeat."

How to Hire a Nanny in Pennsylvania

Nanny Lane is an easy-to-use website that helps families find experienced local nannies in Pennsylvania. Simplify your nanny search and find your perfect nanny today. Our services include background checks, nanny contracts, and nanny payroll.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Pennsylvania

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Pennsylvania Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Pennsylvania? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Pennsylvania?
  • Do you have a Pennsylvania driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
