April M. - Seeking Work in Bensalem
April M.
Bensalem$11.42/hr  |  < 1 yr experience
Im 22 years old and am a nursing major at BCCC. Currently I am looking into changing my major to criminal justice & eventually work towards being a crime scene investigator. Ive taken a couple semesters off from school to really figure out where i want to be in the future & ive realized that im now going in the right direction. I have my future planned out & I plan to succeed! Im looking for a job that will allow me to keep up with my studies. Being a college student, its hard to juggle school & work at the same time. Ive been raised around children all my life. I became an aunt at a very young age & now I have 7 nicecs & nephews. Being that I am a young aunt I can relate to children a lot better. I have hands on experience in dealing with children because i was very involved in helping raise my nieces & nephews. Having a big family with a lot of children really helped me develope a lot of patience for children & their needs. When i became old enough, i got my lifeguarding licence & started working for an apartment complex which i stayed with for 5 consistant summers. I was able to build relationships with the kids & families who lived there & eventually started working for some during the school years. After i got my lifeguarding licence I started training for my wsi, which is training children how to swim. After that I got offered a job for bensalem school district teaching swim instruction to children of all ages. I've worked for day cares & outside families. Ive had many babysitting/nanny positions which I can provide refferences as well. Taking care of children comes naturally to me. Being that I was a kid once, i know how they think. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have for any additional information.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Bensalem, PA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Bensalem Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Bensalem? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Bensalem?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in PA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
