More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a nanny for several families. In my journey of professional child care I have nannied for two infants, one as a full time live in years ago and one part time and a few days a week. Another family I worked with had siblings that I helped nanny and homeschool. One preschool and one in grade school.
Teaching has been apart of my career off and on for decades from toddlers, grade school and high school students. It is important for me to serve the parents well, making life easier for them while building good relationships with the kids through play and daily tasks, building self esteem through learning and fun with stories, music, adventures, schoolwork, sports, arts, outdoor activities and building good communication habits.
I love talking with babies and kids to teach them about the world around them in ways that peak interest and help build life skills in their specific developmental stage.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing so many things with kids of all ages. Here is a list of things I have enjoyed doing with kiddos I nanny and teach. With infants I do tummy time, hold alot and talk about what we are looking at, read books to them and play music, take on walks and show them birds and trees, and lakes and ducks etc. I try to make transistion seemless by being proactive anticipating the infant or childs next need. I love to keep kids and infants happy and safe yet also create boundaries with redirection for best experiences.
Grade school kids activities I love to do are: blocks, games, coloring, dolls, building things, leggos, picnics, hikes or walks, scavenger hunts, playgrounds, indoor playgrounds, tennis, roller blading, teaching to ride a bike, painting rocks, sewing, puzzles, books, dancing, slippy slides, pool time, beach play, fishing, library activities and computer time. Building forts, picking flowers, discussing bugs, birds, animals, history, bible stories, and life skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters most is that I become an extension of the parents helping them have a harmonious day. I want kids to feel accepted, cared for and to get all their energy out. To get kids outside each day and do all different kinds of play so they can learn and develop their confidence in navigating the world around them. I can be strict with certain things and like to let them know the plan of action as we go through the day. I also like to let them know what is required of them so that we can go have fun. I can be super silly and strict which balances things out making for flexible structure and fun. I love to teach kids about caring for themselves and anticipating when they are hungry, thirsty, tired or need a hug. Helping them develop self awareness and communication is key so they start to think about things in a way they may have not before regarding caring for themselves and others. I'm kind of a 'baby whisperer' as
I can understand what they need somehow as well. ~

My experience with special needs children...
I do not have much experience with special needs children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have loved building forts with kiddos and reading books with lights hung and special stations set. Some kids get piggy back rides alot and I pretend I'm their horse skipping around. They giggle and say 'again' or the sibling says, 'my turn'!
My favorite is the moments when a kid gets to know me enough and starts to laugh...either with me or at me - ...either way is fun. When kids laugh and babies smiling that makes the world light up.
I love the interesting conversations we have and treasure those as priceless. Also, the sweetness when giving comfort or support to a baby or child encouraging them to try something new and then the joy when they 'did it'!.
The best is when I arrive to work and the little kiddos run to me, jump into my arms and become little "Koala's" telling me all about some new exciting thing in their life. ~
