More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a pediatric Occupational Therapist for 15 years, ranging from working primarily with children from 0-8. I specialized in sensory integration and nervous-system informed care. I have also worked as an infant nanny for a 4-7 month old and worked with Early Intervention in family homes for children 0-5. I specialize in infant-preschool age ranges.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
- Quiet Sensory Play: Exploring textures, movement, sounds, and visuals; creating regulating spaces for children that help to soothe and engage without screens
- Nature-Based Play: Exploratory walks, touching tree bark, listening to birds, finding items for crafts, and looking at leaves outdoors.
- Cozy Floor Time: Soft blanket-forts, interactive mirror play, and responsive, infant-led movement.
- Gentle Co-Regulation: Rhythmic rocking, soothing lullabies, and slow sensory tracking to calm the nervous system.
- Simple Kitchen Rhythms: Watching or helping with basic baking, kneading dough, and exploring kitchen smells.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is providing a baseline of absolute emotional safety and calm, unhurried presence. In a fast-paced world, young children don't need constant entertainment or high-energy stimulation; they need a grounded adult who truly knows how to co-regulate with them. When a baby or toddler feels completely safe, understood, and anchored in their physical senses, their nervous system relaxes and they can bloom naturally at their own unique pace.
My experience with special needs children...
I have over 13 years of professional experience supporting neurodivergent, highly sensitive (HSP), and sensory-seeking children across home, school, and nature-based settings. Because of my background as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I am formally certified in Ayres Sensory Integration and deeply trained in Polyvagal Theory and the Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP). However, my approach is entirely non-clinical, gentle, and child-led. I do not focus on rigid behavioral compliance. Instead, I use my understanding of the nervous system to cultivate absolute emotional safety and organizing rhythm. I am skilled at reading a child's unique sensory cues, setting up low-stimulus environments, and using slow, quiet co-regulation to help overstimulated or anxious children find true comfort and grounding.

Part-Time Child Care Provider Available in Canby, OR: Alexa C.
What make me a great babysitter or nanny that you can choose for your kids, is the fact that i’m very enthusiastic & playful with children, as well as gentle & protective, ensuring their safety by being very attentive, since it’s my top priority. I also am a very respectful & honest person. I am registered in the oregon background registry, so i am able to work with children. While i have experience taking care of kids from newborn to 7 years old, I cannot provide transportation or cook besides make pancakes, warm food up & cut food up for younger children, i will provide my upmost best, and though at the moment i’m working on scheduling a in person cpr/first aid class instead of online, i do know what im supposed to do for cpr & first aid. I understand it’s nerve wracking to leave your kid with someone you don’t know, i would do everything in my power to protect your children if something ever was to arise, as i am a honest & protective person.

Hi! I’m Sonora!💕 I’ve always loved being around kids and creating fun, happy, and safe environments for them to grow. Being the oldest of four siblings gave me a lot of hands-on experience from a young age, and since then I’ve continued working with children through preschool/daycare and as a Pediatric Medical Assistant.
I’m CPR certified and I’m someone who genuinely enjoys getting involved with the kids. Not just supervising them. I love playing games, doing crafts, going outside, going on little adventures, reading, and finding fun ways to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. I want kids to feel comfortable, heard, supported, and excited to spend time together.I’m very caring, patient, responsible, and dependable. I also understand how important it is for parents to have someone they can completely trust with their children.
