I babysat almost every week, even a couple times a week for a family with 2 children at first, the baby girl was 2 months old when I started, the family eventually grew to 4 children. I watched the children and engaged them in fun/learning activities, I prepared meals, bathed and put into bed, and also did housework for the family. The children were pretty feisty at times and I feel I did a great job at knowing how to respond and keep calm in these moments. I also have been caring for my 3 neices who are 7, 5 and 2 years old since they each were born. I changed the newborns diapers, helped prepare bottles, bathed, clothed and fed. Every week on sundays I teach a preschool class that has about 5 to 8 kids per week. We play, listen to a bible lesson from me sitting around the table and I also have the kids help me clean up their toys right before their parents come get them. I have never been in a "nanny" position but I feel like I am a great applicant and will love teaching and playing with and caring for your children!

I have 7 years of experience working as a nanny and mother's helper in the Portland Metropolitan area. I have experience working with children ages 2 months to 18 years. I also have experience working with families with twins. I truly love working with children and am excited to start with a new family! It is my style to meet the needs of the family I am working for. I feel it is important to be engaging and interactive with the children and communicative with the parents. I feel it is important to have a strong understanding of the parents' childcare needs and their goals for the upbringing of their children. I feel that as a nanny it is my job to be warm and attentive to the child's needs.

I nannied for 2 summers. The family adopted 2 kids from Columbia, in South America. I was with them from the start. The oldest was significantly older than the younger child. The children's ages at the time were 4 and 10. The family has since moved. I have done occasional babysitting, also, for kids of various ages.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Troutdale, OR

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Troutdale Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Troutdale? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Troutdale?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in OR? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
