I recently have been an intern where I worked in the therapeutic classrooms with children ages infant to 5 yrs. I learned effective and positive ways to redirect children, guide them in conflict resolution, and help them become aware of feelings.

I have been a post partum nanny for 6 different families. I have been a certified foster parent and respite care provider to several different children of varying ages (six and under) with varying needs. I worked as a midwives assistant for 7 years and had extensive training in newborn care. I am a stay at home mother to my two daughters.

My last child care experience was amazing. I was a nanny for the summer for a family and their four year old son (well he turned four while I was there, on June 12th). This was in southern California and I was a live out who worked Monday through Friday while the parents were at work. I did some over night stays and some late nights when the parents needed it and were able to give me advanced notice. Which they were very good about and also very good about giving over time compensation as well. I got along amazingly with the parents (In fact I still keep in contact with the mother. Her and I were able to build a great friendship.) I think that when two women come together for the greater good of a child their is a bond that is made, a mutual respect you must build to create a positive environment for the child. The family now has a year around nanny and unfortunately I can only provide care during the summers because I am a full time College student during the school year. So now I am looking for another amazing family to nanny for, for the summer.

I am the oldest of nine childern and going to Western Oregon University and Majoring in Elementary Education,in other words I relly like being around kids. I have done a lot of things that have helped me prepare for becoming a teacher and I believe they have also helped me develope skills required for caregiving/nannying. My step mom owns her own childcare business and I have devoted countless hours helping her out with that, along with all of my brothers and sisters. I have also volunteered at the Boys and Girls club of Lebanon. At the club I helped with the after school programs and also volunteered as a volleyball coach. I also have my CPR/first aid certifications. I am a very responsible young person and I would love the opportunity to nanny.

I have baby-sat for four families consistently the past ten years during the summers, and inconsistently during the school year on weekends. I was in charge of making sure their children got to dance classes, swimming lessons, play dates, and more on time. I was in charge of all of the meals for the children, their chores were done, the house was clean, the laundry folded, and any odd jobs that needed to be done I completed. I also made sure we always had fun, handing out treats, and going on exciting day trips or picnics etc.

Anisha H.

Anisha has a kind heart. She has a deep love and compassion for the children she works with. She is able to manage several children with grace. Anisha is very responsible and is a hard worker. I will miss her deeply. - Regina K. Hieb

Jacky C.

She was always happy to take care of my little girl Paige. My husband and I work different shifts but it was difficult to get a good nanny for our daughter. She was kind, helpful with cleaning, and had a light dinner for us when we got home. Definitely would hire her again for summer job! - Hiram Soria

Shay W.

Shay was so amazing with my son! She made sure he was always happy and taken care of correctly. Her patience with my son as a newborn up until a toddler was remarkable. My son loved her and never had an issue with being dropped off with her. I routinely got updates on how he was doing and appreciated the time she took to let me know how things were going throughout the day. - Kendel

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Monmouth, OR

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Monmouth Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Monmouth? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Monmouth?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in OR? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
