I am highly interested in becoming a nanny for your family. I have worked with many children of different ages and abilities in a variety of settings. Not only in a care center atmosphere, but also as a personal care giver for several different mentally and physically challenged children. I enjoy getting to know each child I work with and discovering their unique character. While working with a family I worked with their daughter for approximately nine months. While there I was able to establish and employ a schedule for caretaking, teach her basic signs that helped with communication, teach her good manners (such as saying “please” and “thank you”), and help prepare healthy meals for her. We regularly went on outings to the zoo, library, and the Children’s Museum to help enrich her learning. At the Child development center I had the privilege of working as a teacher’s aide, providing basic care for children age two to five years. Many of my duties in this position were instructional: I managed the classroom, facilitated art projects, organized group activities, and taught educational concepts through song. This experience reinforced my desire to contribute positively to the education of young children. Not only that, but this introduced me to the methods and practicalities of working in a center-based care environment. I have had the privilege of working with one family in Gig Harbor, Washington for two consecutive summers as a nanny. While working with this family I had the responsibility of preparing meals, driving the children to and from school and after school activities, helping with homework, doing light house work, and playing creative games with them. I enjoyed this job tremendously. I enjoyed spending time with the children and felt like I was able to have a helpful role in their family’s life. Working for over six years of employment, I had the ability to establish relationships with families, co-workers, and aides that were involved in the child care program. As a co-teacher, I had the opportunity to supervise aides that worked in the classroom. The goal of our organization was to cooperate together to best model appropriate values for children up to the age of five while caring and instructing them. While completing my student teaching practicum I worked extensively with elementary school students and closely with their instructors and administrators. My responsibilities at elementary schools were designing and implementing creative lesson plans, facilitating innovative group activities, and observing the daily activities of the classroom. Overall I experienced over six months of observation and teaching experience at these two schools. I look forward to becoming a part of your family, and assisting you in every way possible as a nanny.
