More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
During my time working in child care, I served as both a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), providing comprehensive support to children ranging from newborns to 14 years old. In these roles, I gained valuable experience working with a diverse range of developmental, medical, and communication needs. As an SLP-A, I assisted in implementing individualized speech and language therapy plans, helping children improve their communication skills through structured activities and play-based interventions. As a CNA, I provided essential care including feeding, bathing, mobility assistance, and monitoring of vital signs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. My combined clinical and caregiving background has given me a deep understanding of child development and the importance of individualized care and support.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Going to Disney World, playing the park, the pool, soccer, anything crafty!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with both the child and their family. A nanny plays a vital role in a child’s daily life and development, so creating a safe, nurturing, and consistent environment is essential. It’s about more than just supervision! It involves emotional support, positive role modeling, and understanding each child’s unique needs and personality. Clear communication with parents, reliability, and a genuine love for working with children are all key to helping them feel secure, supported, and encouraged as they grow.
My experience with special needs children...
In my roles as an SLP-A and CNA, I have had the privilege of working closely with children with special needs, providing both therapeutic and personal care tailored to each child’s unique challenges and strengths. I supported children with a wide range of diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and developmental delays. As an SLP-A, I collaborated with licensed speech-language pathologists to implement communication strategies, such as AAC devices, sign language, and visual supports, to help children express themselves more effectively. As a CNA, I assisted with daily living activities, positioning, feeding, and sensory regulation techniques, always striving to create a consistent and compassionate environment. This experience deepened my patience, creativity, and commitment to supporting the growth and independence of children with special needs.
