More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Last year, I volunteered to nanny a six-year-old girl for a family friend over the summer. Each day, I was responsible for organizing her activities, helping with basic learning, and ensuring she felt comfortable while her parents were at work. We spent time doing arts and crafts, reading books, and playing outside—activities that allowed her to express herself while also learning new things. Over time, I developed a close bond with her, understanding her unique personality and what she needed emotionally during our time together.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy activities that engage both creativity and imagination when spending time with children. Arts and crafts are something I’d love to do, as it allows both the child and me to express ourselves while making something unique. I also enjoy reading stories, which can spark meaningful conversations and help kids explore their emotions through the characters. Spending time outdoors, whether it's going to a park or simply playing outside, is another way I love to encourage exploration and connection with the world. Music is a big part of my life, so sharing simple instruments or creating fun rhythms with children would also be something I’d really enjoy. These activities align with my creative nature and allow me to help foster a safe, imaginative, and nurturing environment for the child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, being a nanny is about more than just caretaking—it’s about creating a space where the child feels completely safe and loved. I believe it’s the small moments that matter most, like offering comfort when they’re fussy or engaging them in ways that spark curiosity and joy. I know what it feels like to want connection, so it’s important to me that the baby feels seen and heard, even if they’re too young to express themselves fully. I also value consistency and trust, knowing that the parents are relying on me to be a stable and caring presence. The emotional bond is key, and I’m dedicated to forming that by being patient, creative, and fully present. That way, the baby grows up in an environment that fosters both love and growth.
My experience with special needs children...
There was a time when I volunteered to nanny a 5-year-old child with special needs. At first, I was unsure of how to approach the situation, wanting to make sure I provided the care and attention they needed. As we spent time together, I learned to be more attuned to their unique ways of expressing themselves, whether through small gestures or sounds. I quickly realized that what they needed most was patience, consistency, and understanding. We developed a routine that helped create a comforting sense of stability for them, and through play, sensory activities, and positive reinforcement, I was able to help them feel more secure and confident in their environment.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny happened when I was taking care of a baby around the same age as yours, about 5 months old. We were sitting on the floor playing, and I had this little stuffed animal that always made her giggle. She was so captivated by it, and the way her face would light up when I’d make it dance in front of her was priceless. In that moment, I realized how special it is to witness these little milestones, like when she reached out to grab the toy for the first time. It was such a simple act, but the joy and curiosity in her eyes made it feel so much bigger. Those small connections and seeing the world through a baby’s eyes are what make nannying so meaningful to me.
