A little bit about me

I love working with kids; they brighten up the world with their imaginations and insights. I find it important to be a constant and nurturing support for each child I work with. I find boundary-setting VERY important in my work with children. I believe that kids learn primarily by example, so it's my responsibility to set the best one possible. I have extensive knowledge of and experience with setting age-appropriate expectations and consequences. I have approx. 6 years of paid experience working with children as an after-school teacher, childcare worker, and therapist (for children/teens). My educational background is in psychology/applied clinical psychology, with minors in child/adolescent clinical psychology and neuropsychology. I am CPR and first-aid certified by the Health and Safety Institute (October of 2024).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Crafts and DIY projects (boredom jars, sand-searches, making dreamcatchers, etc.), origami, games involving movement such as "the floor is lava," freeze-dance videos, running/jumping/dodging videos, board games, and video games (for example, Minecraft)!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Actually making a positive difference in the lives of a kiddo--even just one kiddo! Teaching them skills they can carry into adulthood. Being a good role model to give them their best chance in life. :)

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with many children with special needs, including those with mood/anxiety disorders (depression, GAD, BD), trauma and stressor-related disorders, impulse-control and conduct disorders (ODD, CD, etc.), neurodevelopmental disorders (ASD, AD/HD), intellectual disability, etc., particularly when I worked as a therapist and after-school teacher.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I can't explain much about some very memorable moments I've had with children due to the confidential nature of my other previous jobs, however, I can say my favorite moments with kiddos include when they express themselves in unique ways (like building a play of events using outside materials like sticks and rocks), or when they say things during make-believe play that show their unique perspectives on and experiences in the world.
