A little bit about me

My name is Ashley, I have been a nanny since 2009. For 3 years I was a live-in Nanny here in Jersey for three boys ages ranged from 5 to 12, then I was a nanny for 2 and a half years in maine for an infant until he was about 2 and a half. I have done hundreds of babysitting jobs over the years. I have also cleaned houses for a living, I cook healthy meals and helped with academics for various ages. I have also been a live in Nanny for a chld with speacial needs. I went to Rutgers for social work but did not finish due to life circumstances at the time. I have been a barista for 8 years as well, so I can make a mean cup of coffee for you family. I also have worked at Whole Foods about 5 years as a cheese buyer and wine specialist so I can also help with making a delicious charcuterie board for your entertaining. I have a passion for children and being a positive light in their lives. I came from a very difficult childhood and am a very resilient person and a very honest person.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy taking children to parks, on little excursions that create a sense of the cultures around them, instructing basic craft activities, reading to the children, or having the children read to me, playing board games and also teaching how to cook.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing to me is knowing that I have made a difference in a child's life. For example, the three boys who I nannied back in 2009 to 2012 are now all over 18 and I still am in contact with them and they consider me a sister to them. They know they can always count on the for anything if they needed me.

My experience with special needs children...

My child who I nannied with special needs was 7 when I first met him and 9 when I left the household. He had learning and behavioral disabilities but I was able to help him focus and gave him unconditional patience which is what he was lacking. He then flourished in school when provided with proper encouragement.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have had so many amazing moments with the children I have spent time with. But these two stand out to me:
One of my boys who was special needs Aced his quiz in second grade for the first time and I took him to a surprise outing after school which he enjoyed because he rarely got individual attention. Also The first year of being a nanny to an infant 3 days a week 8 hours a day and seeing all those little milestones which I was able to play a huge part of.
