More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Spalding Elementary School (Collegedale, TN) Volunteer After School Care. I worked from 3pm-6pm watch a group of children in after care. We would have snacks prepared for them and take them outside to play on the play ground until their parents came for pick up.

Cohutta Springs Youth Camp (Crandall, GA) Cook/Sub Counselor. I worked as a cook in the cafeteria and as a substitute counselor. As a substitute counselor, I would watch over a cabin full of 12 girls throughout the day. I would take them to their activities around campus and in the evening made sure the girls were showered and in the bed.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy swimming, going to the park, teaching a musical instrument, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, museum and aquarium trips, playing sports, drawing with chalk outside.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is being attentive. Being attentive while they're explaining themselves, the crazy ideas they have about their lives, or a silly story they're making up. Kids know who pays the most attention, who is fully present and engaging with them.

My experience with special needs children...

I've been a nanny for an 11 year old boy with severe ADHD. I made sure he took his daily medications. Throughout the day I helped him get through his daily schedule and activities by consistently reengaging his focus on the task at hand.

I've been a nanny for an 11 month old boy with autism. I made sensory bins for him and used play based activities to stimulate speech and language skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment is always when I arrive. Children get so excited to see me and can't wait to play. That is such a heartwarming feeling that will never get old.
