A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Austri! As the oldest of five siblings, caring for children has always been second nature to me. I’ve been babysitting and nannying since high school, and professionally I’ve worked as a children’s snowboard and ski instructor for ages 3–14. Most recently, I was employed at a Montessori-based preschool and daycare in Summit County, Colorado, where I also frequently babysat for families from the center.

My Montessori training has given me a thoughtful and engaging approach to childcare — one that emphasizes independence, curiosity, and keeping kids off screens while learning and having fun. I’m more than happy to help with potty training, pick-ups and drop-offs, housekeeping, meal prep, or whatever else your family may need.

I recently relocated to Toms River to live with my grandma while I pursue a Medical Assistant certification program. I love working with kids and look forward to creating a safe, happy, and enriching environment for your family.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent the past 4 winters working in Colorado with children 3 -14 years old working as a snowboard instructor. This spring and summer I was a montessori based preschool/daycare teacher which I loved. My favorite thing is sharing the joy and adventure of nature with kids/

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything off screens! Inclimate weather activities like baking, edible playdough, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, building pillow forts. If weather allows, we will be outside playing with a soccer ball, building fairy houses, exploring nearby parks or making nature chalk art. Some kids think they're afraid of the ourdoors, I'm proud to say I've shifted the perspective in some kids within just one day!

My experience with special needs children...

I don't have much experience with children with special needs. There were a few group snowboard lessons where I worked with children on the Autism spectrum or with severe ADHD. Im very patient and compassionate, willing to learn what the best approach is for your specific child.
