A little bit about me

(CPR & First Aid certification by 10/7/25) Hello! I am a 16 year old high school student living in Tualatin, OR. I am the youngest in my family, but have always dreamed of having kids of my own to take care of & support. I am currently enrolled in a Child Development Program at Tualatin High School, which has taught me the in-depth ways about how to treat kids & their brain development. Every other class, we take care of the preschool students, play, teach, talk, & make sure they are constantly learning and comfortable. I have also worked at the Tualatin Parks & Rec, which taught me the importance of play & being engaged with the children. My mother is a preschool teacher and I get lots of advice on how to treat/care for children. I love working with children because it allows me to not only learn about them (apply class techniques) & have fun with them! I grew up very reserved/shy, so I find it fairly easy to make any type (extroverted/introverted) of child feel comfortable and safe.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Having a true meaningful connection with the child/children is my main goal. I had a babysitter of my own--typically the same one until my sister was old enough to take care of me on her own. With that experience, I learned crucial ways that I can use to help children feel comfortable around me without allowing them to feel like they don't shouldn't to obey me (I'm not just their 'friend', I'm there to keep stay safe). I will not be accepting any roles until I am CPR * First Aid certified (hopefully by the end of this week). I take safety very seriously, and in any circumstance of fun or play that I sense is getting in a line of danger, I will communicate that and stop it. It's also important that you, the parents, are comfortable enough with me to share any of your concerns and are open to giving me helpful feedback/advice when wanted.

My experience with special needs children...

I am enrolled in Peer Partner at TUHS (Tualatin High School). We work all class with special needs children, either doing class work, school jobs, outdoor jobs, or off-campus work with them. We create relationships with the kids and are able to adapt to their needs and learn a system of keeping them safe/secure. Working with children with special needs can be difficult, but I absolutely love it. I have no struggle communicating with them in times when they are distressed, overstimulated, and/or feel fearful. There is a line between being kind yet also understanding rightful discipline (teaching them right vs wrong). This is vital for their learning journey and to help compose themselves when they are feeling overstimulated.
