A little bit about me

Hi! I am a 22 year old elementary education major at the University of Northern Iowa. I just moved here to the Denver area to complete my student teaching requirements (internship) at an elementary school in the APS district. I'm looking for a part-time nanny/babysitter job. My schedule is open weekday nights after 3pm and weekends. Otherwise, I am very flexible when it comes to hours, family size, and job requirements. I have tons of experience in childcare. I was the middle child in a family of 7 kids, so I began babysitting at an early age. My first job was working at a daycare in Iowa. Since moving to college I have regularly nannied for 3 families. I have also helped meet the needs of a variety of other families by babysitting, housekeeping, and connecting them with available nannies in our nanny network located in Iowa. My goal as your nanny/babysitter is to make your life easier while keeping your kids safe, entertained, and educated.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My first job was working at a daycare in my hometown while I was in high school. After moving to college I began caring for a family with a 7 and 10 year old boy. I have worked with this family for over 4 years. Starting in February 2018 I also began nannying for a family with two foster children aged 15-months and 5 years. In the summer of '17, I nannied for a family with two young boys. This past summer I held a nanny job caring for 3 children aged 2, 4, and 8. While I lived in Iowa I continued to babysit for many of these families when needed. On top of my childcare experience I also have experience working in a range of school settings during my time as an elementary education major. I have had practicum experience regularly working in classrooms ranging from pre-K to 4th grade.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a nanny I enjoy finding fun ideas to keep the schedule fresh and fun while staying safe. Some examples of activities I have planned with children are trips to the park, pool, or library, sports games in the backyard, home-made obstacle courses, setting up Rube Goldberg machines, arts and crafts, and much more. I have developed a long list of resources that provide me with a range of ideas to keep kids entertained and educated.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is to developing trust with the family I am working for. As a nanny, I want the parents feel comfortable leaving their children in my care, and for the children to feel secure and happy under my supervision. Trust is a key factor to achieve this goal. I have found that being open and honest is an essential part of my job. I am more than happy to check in with the parents at any time to provide updates on our daily schedule and happenings. I am flexible and willing to do whatever is needed to keep your mind at ease while your children are in my care.

My experience with special needs children...

As an education major I have worked with a variety of children and students with special needs. In high school I did a quarter long job shadow in a special needs classroom in an elementary school. When I moved to college I continued to work with students and children with special needs both inside and outside of the classroom. I have taken a variety of college classes that have provided me with a deep understanding of how to meet the needs of all children. I have also had experience nannying children who have special needs. One of my nanny jobs was caring for two boys who were placed in the foster system. These children not only had a lot of trauma that we worked through together, the oldest has also been diagnosed with severe ADHD and O.D.D. Due to my range of experience, feel I am skillful at adapting to meet the needs of any child who is in my loving care.
