My name is Brianna, but most people call me Bri. I’m 23 years old and have always had a passion for kids. I’m currently working on finishing up my BSN degree at Purdue in Hammond, majoring in nursing. With that being said, I’m quite knowledgeable in CPR, Heimlich maneuver, meal prep and child care. I’ve always been great with kids and I currently have one of my own on the way. I see being a nanny as a great opportunity for me to build that connection with different age groups to prepare myself for motherhood. I’ve had plenty of experience with kids of all age groups as well as special needs children. I love animals as well so I do not mind pets or keeping the house clean & tidy. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities depend on age but I would be more than happy to play board games, do crafts, play mind stimulating games like playing with dolls or action figures, play games on the wii or game console, I could do flash cards or even tutoring if your child is struggling with any school concepts. For younger toddlers/baby’s I would could play with them with any toys you have available to me. For outdoor activities we could do walks, play by a nearby park, hangout in the front/backyard, use chalk, play with bubbles, play sports games, or your child could give me some ideas of things they like to do for fun.

My experience with special needs children...

My 4 year old niece has lived with me since birth and she is autistic so I’m very experienced in taking care of kids with autism. This includes verbal and nonverbal. I am also experienced in caring for children with down-syndrome. With that being said I am very patient and accepting of all children and I would do my best to gain their trust and make them feel comfortable with me. I know how difficult it is for my niece to be around new people and she tends to act out and have her fits when she is feeling overwhelmed. I know just how to deal with these fits and I really take my time to calm her down because the sensory overload can become too much for her to handle sometimes. I’m very good at reading body language because my niece is nonverbal so I can easily pick up on cues and figure out what it is she’s trying to tell me. I feel I can apply this with any child after spending some time to get to know them.
