More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a preschool teacher at a few different schools. In all my teaching experiences I was the lead and I created the lessons for day. I taught infants, both young and older toddlers, preschool, pre-kindergarten, and before and after school care children. I am currently a Director at a nearby Preschool but I am keeping my options open.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I come from a very creative and musical family and I enjoy creative , musical activities. I also am a big advocate to explore outside and to touch on other topics of science, STEM, construction, social studies, english, math and others.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love children and I love being a support and advocate for children. Why I love nannying and it does have challenges like any other job it also is less stressful and I am able to do more with the children rather than a large group at a school. I love giving individual attention because I know how important it is for them growing, and forming that "bond" is like non-other and someday I want to write a book about how much light and joy children has brought to me in my lifetime.
My experience with special needs children...
In the different educational environments I worked with multiple autistic children, a deaf child, children on the spectrum but were not yet diagnosed, some that had an IEP and one that was in a wheelchair that needed help with feeding and walking. I never thought I would be good working with this special group of children but in my experience they have been such a blessing and it reminded me of my first philosophy that all children can learn. The special needs children just need a little adapting and patience and they can learn and do the lesson material presented to them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I honestly have had so many good and happy Moments but I think the greatest was on my first day upon leaving he ran over to me and gave me the biggest hug. This particular child was the middle child and was very shy and he was slow to warm up to new people. After that day we bonded more and more. One day he told his mother when she was leaving "Mommy, I will be ok because Ms. Brittany will take great care of me." He was sick with a cold at the time and it was cute because after I left he was telling his Mom what I did to help comfort him. Actually made her make him herbal tea with lemon and honey.
