The most important part about being a nanny...

Patience. Children are sensitive and they have so much to learn, it takes patience to be able to turn their mistakes into a positive moment of learning. No matter how we, as adults, behave, they will learn from us and their environment. When a child makes a mess, whether with their toys or food, it’s easy to become upset because we are the ones who have to clean it up. It’s important to me that I keep calm and teach them “it’s okay to make a mess as long as we clean it up” and if they are able, have them help me clean it while talking to them about the situation. If they are too young, I will continue to speak on the importance of cleaning after ourselves and describe what I am doing to correct the mistakes.
