I’ve been a Nanny for a year and a half with the same family, picking up a few short term jobs along the way. I’ve cared for ages 5mo- 5yrs and am mostly experienced in infant care. I’ve provided transportation to and from school, sports, and other activities. I help with learning support and homework and working on reaching speech and physical milestones with little ones.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy taking children to the park, doing arts and crafts, reading and listening to music. I’m also happy to take children with me to run errands just to get them out of the house for a little while. I also enjoy including children in daily tasks such as cleaning and cooking as I find it’s important for children to feel like part of my team. I’ve found that this is the best way to build successful bonds with the children I watch

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is showing unconditional love to the children I watch. I really believe that raising children takes a village, and being a nanny means that I get the honor of being one extra adult to provide love and care.

My favorite nanny moment was with a three year old child who was very hesitant to trust me. After a few weeks of struggling to gain his trust, he had a meltdown because we were out of his favorite breakfast. I asked the family if they’d mind if I took him to the store with me to pick up some more and he was so excited to be included in an “errand.” Once he was fed and happy, he ran to me and gave me a giant hug for the first time and told me he loved me. I’ve now been his nanny for over a year and he’s been attached at my hip ever since. I think it’s very important to remember that something simple and unimportant to us adults, can make a world of difference in the eyes of children.
