Hi, I am Catherine Speers. I am a student at Penn State University and I am studying elementary education. I plan on getting my masters in Special education. I love working with children and I currently tutor children and work with special needs students at school. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

This fall, 2021, I started working at school through both Lifelink and PAWS. Lifelink is a program that is on campus run through Penn State, where college aged students with special needs have an extension period to their high school. During their time at Lifelink, these students are taking courses, attending paid work positions, and trying out living on their own for the first times of their lives. I work with these students on a daily basis by tutoring them for their classes, attending classes with them, and socializing with them during downtime. I also mentioned how I did PAWS, which is a tutoring program for students who are 4th – 8th grade who need extra help in their classes, mostly focusing on math and English. This tutoring comes free to the students who can’t afford paying for tutors, but really need that extra support and help. Both of these positions are so rewarding, and I genuinely love doing them.
I have also been babysitting for about 6 years and have worked at camps.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing sports, going for walks, doing some educational activities, staying off video games and tv.
