A little bit about me

Hi there! :-) My name is Catie, and I am a bilingual, fun-loving former preschool teacher with international experience as a live-in and live-out Nanny. I recently moved to Chicago and am looking to be a live-out nanny for a family with one child between 2-5 years old.

I have worked as a live-in nanny for 2 separate families in Spain, a live-out nanny for a family in California, and 3 years as a teacher in a prestigious private reggio-emilia school in Los Angeles. I also gave private English classes to over 20 children in Spain from the ages of 2-11.

In addition, I wrote and self-published a children's book, "What's Your Love Shape?" which helps kids (and parents) understand how they feel and express love.

I believe children have unlimited creativity and passion and my job is to support and encourage the expression of their capabilities. Since I am also a singer, I am constantly using music to teach and connect kids I nanny.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a preschool teacher for the Fairlawn UCC preschool in Akron, Ohio, and Westside Neighborhood ECC in Los Angeles, California for several years.

In addition, I gave private ESL classes to kids between the ages of 2-11 in Spain.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Singing, reading, going to the park, dancing, drawing, games, arts and crafts, and walks.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe children are humans in their purest, most present form. The most important thing for me is to be the secure figure for that child to express his/her natural creativity and talents. It's crucial to have fun, encourage imagination, sing, dance, and enjoy each day while continuously learning and growing.

My experience with special needs children...

I have taught children with ADHD, autism, and behavioral disorders.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to watch an 8-month-old boy in California and my favorite memories were seeing his amazement at the lights store and at the beach. We could play for hours in the sand and in the waves on the shore.
