The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating a secure, nurturing, and encouraging environment where kids feel appreciated and cared for is the most crucial aspect of being a nanny. Establishing trust is crucial for open communication and a healthy connection with both the parents and the kids. Whether it's offering emotional support, promoting learning, or nurturing creativity, it's also critical to be patient, flexible, and aware of each child's unique requirements. Being a nanny is primarily about providing stability and making sure the kids feel loved and at ease while their parents are away.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite au pair moment was when I helped a child I was caring for overcome body shaming. At first, they were really confused about what to wear and stressed about how her looks and felt like nothing was working out, but I worked with them slowly, making it a fun and positive experience. I showed her how privileged she was to have great hair like that, I made jokes about my wig that i have to buy a wig in order for my hair to look great like hers, she started feeling a bit more positive and laughed about the wig. then we both looked at the weather and decided what was best for the weather. she found the best outfit and now she has learnt to also plan ahead by taking out oufits for the days ahead.
It was such a rewarding moment for me, knowing I helped them overcome a fear and gain a new skill. Moments like that remind me why I love working with kids — seeing them grow and achieve things they didn’t think they could is so fulfilling!
