More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 2 years of hands-on experience caring for children ranging in age from 3 months to 13 years old in both part-time and full-time roles. In my most recent full-time nanny position, I was responsible for the daily care of multiple children, managing everything from feedings and diaper changes for infants to homework help and structured routines for older kids.
I’ve also had the rewarding experience of nannying children with autism and behavioral challenges, where I provided patient, consistent care tailored to each child’s unique needs. I worked closely with parents to maintain behavior plans, create a calm and supportive environment, and encourage positive development through communication, structure, and compassion.
My responsibilities have included meal prep, engaging play and educational activities, transportation to school or activities, bedtime routines, and light housekeeping. I always strive to create a safe, nurturing space where children feel secure, and supported.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is building trust and creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel loved, supported, and free to be themselves. It’s about being reliable—not just in your duties, but emotionally—showing up with patience, consistency, and genuine care every single day. Children thrive when they feel secure, and as a nanny, you’re not just a caregiver—you become a positive role model, a source of comfort, and a big part of their early development.
My experience with special needs children...
I have direct experience caring for children with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum and children with behavioral challenges. In these roles, I’ve learned the importance of patience, structure, and consistency. I worked closely with families to understand each child’s unique needs and followed behavior plans or sensory strategies to help them feel safe, supported, and successful in their daily routines.
I’ve provided care that includes sensory-based activities, redirection techniques, positive reinforcement, and emotional support. I also prioritize open communication with parents to ensure a team approach in supporting each child’s development, comfort, and progress.
My goal is always to create a calm, encouraging environment where children with special needs feel understood and empowered.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny was helping a 4-year-old I cared for overcome their fear of reading out loud. We created a little “reading corner” with cozy pillows and picked out fun storybooks each day. Over time, their confidence grew—and one day, they proudly read an entire book to me without hesitation. Seeing that spark of pride in their eyes and knowing I helped build that moment of confidence was incredibly rewarding. Moments like that remind me why I love what I do.

Live-In Full-Time Nanny Available in Glen Allen, VA: Sarah S.
I have always loved and gotten along so well with kids. I babysat around my neighborhood when I was younger and recently started watching friends' kids when I can. I'm currently a receptionist, but I'd love to find a job where I could spend more time with children and do something I'm passionate about. I've been through quite a bit in my life thus far, and see myself as a great potential resource for children to come to with problems they'd be nervous to go to their parents about, or to just have a buddy who's been through something similar. I'm very family-oriented and would be overjoyed for a family to open their arms to me.
