People comment often that I am natural with babies and children. My caregiving experience started at age ten as a mother's helper, through my teens and during college. After college graduation I was the go to babysitter for all my brothers and sisters.
Also, I have raised two successful daughters while working outside the home. We had a nanny who cared for our girls for seven years. I always wanted the girls to be in a loving, caring environment. I attribute their self confidence to the security of staying home with our loving nanny.
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be "grandmotherly" with a little spunk. I love children and bond with them very quickly. I love to sing to them (my go to song is "You are My Sunshine"), hold them and just love them. I enjoy finger play songs (such as Itsy Bitsy Spider). I'm passionate about reading and playing outdoors.
Reading is a fundamental part of my daily plan. I use an app to log all activities for your review at the end of my work day: feedings, developmental milestone achievements, diaper and play times. I practice excellent hygiene skills.
I am an excellent cook and can get a laundry stain out of almost anything. I'm happy to help with homework, transportation, caring for sick little ones on days they can't go to school, play room pick up, meal prep and all basic household responsibilities. I'm very comfortable with pets (well, I'm not too fond of snakes). I am a responsible, affectionate, seasoned caregiver with excellent child care and interpersonal skills. I am friendly and energetic. I listen carefully and follow directions well. My schedule is open and flexible as I am retired from 27 years of Federal Service as a GS-15 contracting officer. With age comes knowledge, commitment and a strong desire to meet or exceed your expectations.
Being a caregiver has been very rewarding because I have had the opportunity to be part of the future of children. I am an active member of my Church. I live in Ocean Lakes (Dam Neck and General Booth) - very close to Ocean Lakes Elementary. I am a non smoker. I own a 2016 Subaru Outback and possess a valid VA Drivers license and full automobile insurance. The best way to reach me is call anytime on my cell phone at 757-675-3195. Thank you for your time! I hope to hear from you soon! Nanny T

I've been working with children for a total of about 15 years. I started babysitting in high school and in the summer I would volunteer at a summer church program working with 3 - 6 year olds. After HS, I worked in childcare at a licensed center for approximately four years. While there, I started as a floater, which means I moved around from classroom to classroom and gained experience with every age group. After about six months of being a floater, I started working in the preschool classroom. I worked both in the preschool classroom (3 - 4-year-old kids) and the junior kindergarten classroom (4 - 5-year-old kids) for three and a half years. I also worked quite a bit in the infant room during that time. While working at the center, I created structured lesson plans as well as attended many training classes and workshops on how to work with children, including medical administration and ways to work with children with special needs. I'm also CPR and First Aid certified. For the last several years, I've spent my time working as a nanny. The first family I worked for were completely amazing! I worked mostly with the youngest two children, the oldest of the two has Down syndrome. I learned so much and it was an absolute joy working with all of them. I then moved from my hometown of Richmond to the Hampton Roads area a couple of years ago and began working with another incredible family! When I started, the little one that I care for was just 10 weeks old and the cutest little guy I ever did see! His Daddy is in the Navy, so, unfortunately they had to relocate to Hawaii last year. My current job status is sadly not working out, so I am in search of a new family to take care of! I hope I am lucky enough to find another amazing family to work with!

I am a 45 year old, self-motivated and energetic mother of 4 amazing children (with a granddaughter on the way, YAY!), 4 dogs, 2 cats, and married to a commercial property owner with lots of free time. Interacting with children is important for growth and development. I enjoy reading to them, teaching new things, doing arts & crafts, playing games, participating in lots of outdoor activities, playing music & musical instruments, and being a great role model. I have a great professional employment background as well as a polished, pleasant appearance and demeanor, and can assist with numerous business tasks, too. Past employment includes managing a medical practice where I was CPR certified and learned a great deal about medical conditions and first aid.
