I absolutely love children and have a great deal of experience caring for them. I started my babysitting career at age 11 as a "mother's helper" and began babysitting regularly at age 14. From ages 16-18, I worked for a local nanny service. I worked as a part time nanny for various families and have continued to babysit regularly since I started college. I have have experience with children of all ages, including young babies and toddlers and feel comfortable watching multiple kids at once. I am studying to be an elementary school teacher, so since I started college I've also gained a lot of experience working with children in classroom settings as a student teacher. I have additional experience as a reading and writing tutor, so I can provide great homework help when necessary. As a nanny, safety is my top priority! I am Red Cross/CPR certified and trained in first aid. I've held a driver's license for over 5 years and have an excellent record. I am a very cautious driver and observe the speed limit religiously. When it comes to the children in my care, I am very energetic, enthusiastic, loving, patient, attentive, and fair. I respect children and value their thoughts, feelings, and opinions, so I always make a point to listen and talk to the kids in my care. I love arts and crafts, playing games, reading, taking trips to the park or pool, etc. I definitely prefer to stay actively engaged with children I care for rather than simply placing them in front of the television. I love going on adventures and helping to create new and memorable experiences for the children. I genuinely enjoy being around kids, and I think it shows through in my work. I take my work very seriously and am extremely responsible. I am always professional and punctual and am very dependable. I love babysitting/nannying just as much today as I did when I first started seven years ago. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Visually Impaired: I started babysitting when I was 16years old. I worked for a blind mother who had a severe visually impaired, 5 year old adopted child. From this I taught the child how to write with line assistance. One of her favorite activities was playing on the playground and singing about everything. Day care: I worked at a small daycare out of someone’s house for 2 years. In this time period I cared for 9 children with ages varying from 6 months to 12 years old. My responsibilities included changing diapers, snack time, homework assistance and play time. Autism: I got the opportunity to work for a mother who had a 7year old autistic daughter for 10 months. The reason I stopped was I moved out of the area. I trained and practiced the sunrise program with her. At my arrival, the girl had a vocabulary of 50 words and walked around in a diaper because she could not clothe herself. My biggest accomplishment was teaching her the name of each article of clothing and she eventually was able to clothe herself. Additionally, by the time I left that family, the daughter tripled her vocabulary while under my care. With this case I had to teach the parents just as much as the daughter. By recognizing the potential and already accomplished success in the daughter I was able to minimize the parents coddling and enabling current and future growth. Fairfax County Park Authority I was a summer camp counselor. At the beginning of each week we would get a set of 20 children that we cared for one week teaching them how to geocache. I cared for children ranging from 6 to 13 years old. I conducted meal time, bathroom time, field games and other activities. The summer camp was all outdoors. CPR and first aid certificate along with a background check was required for the job.

I have worked with children since my senior year of high school. I worked for a family during the summer that had three children. I was their nanny for that time. This is when I found out my love for children and wanting to work for them. That summer I learned a lot from the children that I worked with. It’s ironic of how adults learn things from children whenever they are mimicking our every mood. Children look at the world with innocent eyes. They can re-teach us some life lessons that we may have forgotten. I also have worked for a private day care working with children ranging from 1 year to 5 years. This job was a blessing I got to see how children developed in every area of their lives. Its amazing of how much children learned. The most important job that I worked was with inner city children in Waco, Texas. I was a tutor for a 6th grade class. The job brought a new perspective of the world to my eyes. It made me feel blessed for how much I have in my life. I am a hard-working, independent, caring individual who would love to work with any family. I would love to take the children out and show them the joys of the world. I would like to teach them the basic necessary things in life. Right now I am a nanny for a family in Washington D.C. This job has been a wonderful experience for me. I take care of 4 great children ages 4, 2, and 1 year old twins. I take them to the park, library, teach them how to cook (cookies is their favorite), and we do many crafts. I would like to expand my horizons though and work along the west coast until I go back to school in the fall. It is my passion to work with children my whole life. They are innocent precious gifts from God.

Starting Mid-October, we have an opening for a new family to join our existing nanny share!

We have one child, Aurelia (17mo), and we are looking for another reliable family with a child of a similar age to join our share. Unfortunately, our other family is moving out of state. We are sad to lose them, but we are excited for the opportunity for our girl to make a new friend!

I am a software engineer and my husband is an attorney, and we both work pretty regular schedules. We live in a 3br semi-detached near a great playground and a library in Alexandria, VA (near Del Ray). We also have a very loving (and calm) black lab who is great with babies (although she spends most of the day sleeping).

Cost: $10/hr per family (on the books)

Hours: Typically 8-5, but very flexible and open to discussion

Our nanny: We found Taryn on after interviewing several candidates. We tend to be very cautious, but from the moment we met Taryn she put us at ease. Our AJ and the other boy in our nanny share is in love with Taryn. She does a wonderful job of taking the kids to the park and to nearby kids' activities (such as at the nearby library). She also teaches the kids tons, and we love coming home to find pictures, letters, and numbers she writes up on whiteboard for "preschool". Our daughter has already learned so much from Taryn, and we're always surprised to come home to find her trying new words (or, more often, animal sounds).

Hello I’d like to offer my home for a Nanny share with another family. I have identified a few potential nannies to start on November 4th. I have a 6 month old boy. I have asked the nanny to be available from 8 AM to 6 PM, M-F. Please message me if you are interested in sharing the cost at a very affordable rate in a more private environment than a daycare with another baby to socialize with.

I am located in Kingstowne, Alexandria VA off of Beulah street.
