I have two years of nannying experience (kids ages 1 to 7) and eight years of babysitting experience (kids ages 5 months to 13 years old). I am a pro at potty-trianing, tutoring and convincing kids to eat their vegetables. I also have experience with many types of pets: cats, dogs, fish, turtles, and snakes. Both in nannying and in babysitting, I have watched after children with varying and unique cases of special needs. My approach to this, like my approach to all childcare, is based in patience, love, and a strict adherance to the instructions and preferences detailed by the parents. I have also spent 5 years serving as a camp counselor (2 of the years as head counselor). This gave me the ability to connect with all different types of personalities. More specifically, I know how to adjust my approach to a child who might be extremely shy or to a child who is hyperactive. In babysitting, my longest and most repeated employment was a kid sitting position for 5 kids between the ages of 3 and 12. I honored the parents' request that their children not watch too much television by constantly keeping them busy with other activities, including outdoor obstacle courses, arts & crafts, board games, and baking. I ensured every measure of safety and the parents were always happy to come home to a clean house and exhausted children. Thusfar, my experience as a nanny has been in two different jobs, which were both temporary positions. However, both employers have sought my childcare services since then in the form of babysitting/nannying on holidays, emergencies and the occasional need for coverage. My experience as a nanny started in 2014 with a temporary position from June to August, for a wonderful family with three children, one of which required special needs care. The three kids ranged from two to six years of age and I helped give them a fun-packed, educational and energetic summer. In my second and most recent position, I nannied for a one year old where I maintained a regular schedule of feeding, sleeping, indoor and outdoor activity.

I come from a really big family so growing up I was always babysitting but proffesionally i aupaired full time in America from 2006 - 2008 then returned to South Africa once my visa expired. I worked for 2 diferent families living with each family for one full year. My first family was a family of 8 kids aged 18 months to 16 years old so my duties varied from full time care of the infant to picking up the older kids from school, waking them up and getting them ready for school in the morning, homework, extra mural activities, driving them around to play dates, playing games with them. I learned alot of patience with this family as i was alone with all 8 kids most of the time with minimal assistance from a house keeper. My second famly was a family with 3 kids aged 18 month to 7 years, with this family i work along side a stay at home mom but I was 100% responsible for the kids all day till 7. I also worked in a nursery school back home in South Africa before aupairing my first two times. In 2011 - 2012 I aunpaired for a family in Long Isalnd who had a special needs boy who was 13, a 2 years old an a new born. My most recent job is being a nanny for 2 adorable little girls, I started with them when they were 2 and 4yrs old and they are now turning 5 and 7. I am Currently a full time night student as well studying early childhood development. Becoming a pre school teacher is my life long dream :)

I love working with children and have since I was old enough to babysit! I consider myself a very fun and energetic individual who has a natural talent working with kids :). I currently attend GMU and will be finishing in April with a BA concentrated in Special Education. Throughout high school I was a camp counselor/sailing instructor with ages 3-13. In 2009, I took over my sister's nanny position w/a 2 and 6-year-old. After a year my sister took her job back so I began nannying across the street for boys, ages 7 and 9. From 09/11-05-12 I nannied a sweet baby boy, before I began a new job with wonderful baby girl, working for that family for three years until this fall 2015 finishing school full time. Over the years I have interned in various special ed. classrooms and worked with adult special education students at GMU. I am looking to begin a long term nanny position summer :)! I have maintained contact and close positive relationships with all the families I nannied, so I have super great references!
