I've worked with children 6weeks to 3 years old at Bright Horizons for alittle over a year. After I left there, I've been nannying the past 4 years for several families working full/ part time .I still babysit for the families i use to work for in my spare time when needed. The past year, while i was pregnant, I worked for a nanny share on MWF working for 2 babies 3 months old. I also worked T and TH for 3 boys, 10, 8, and 4, and saturdays for 2 children 5, 3. While working 6 days a week and babysitting for other families who needed an evening sitter I also attended classes at NVCC to finish my degree in Early Childhood Development. I am now a sophomore at NVCC and hope to graduate in fall 2012 and continue to GMU to receive my bachelors degree in Child Development. I would have to say I specialize in infants and toddlers. I love to play games, create crafts, go on picnics, to the parks, for walks and have fun adventures using our imaginations with children. I love working with children and love to see them learn and grow through play! I also have followed the Montorsori way and have taught young children using that method before. My real passion is to teach children through creativity and art. One of my favorite classes at NVCC was my art, music and movement class where learned how important art, and music and movement can be for children's growth and development. Since I've had Mason, my son, I started back at work when he was a month old and continued to work for my T.Th family until the end of the school year when I wasn't needed anymore, as well as my regular saturday family and a family, who I've been babysitting for about 3 years now, with 2 boys ages 6 and 4 on weekdays as needed.

First of all, I enjoy working with kids and I would love to keep doing it while I'm going to school. Therefore, I think babysitting it is a great opportunity to interact with children which I really enjoy doing and still have time to go to school and study. These are things that I have been doing with children. I’m an outdoor person, so I love spending time playing outside with the children and also I like going to the park. I enjoy doing little projects like crafts or painting. Moreover, my responsibilities have included taking the kids to their classes (music classes, little gym, art classes). I usually spend time reading books to them and sometimes I take the kids to the library as a part of our daily. Moreover, between my daily activities I make some light meals for the kids and also make sure that they have enough food for the week (do grocery shopping’s once a week) I do take care of their laundry and organize their room.

I began in childcare with a day care program when I was in 7th grade, at my church, called "Mom's Morning Out." From there I began to babysit for individual families and have always thoroughly loved it! I have been a nanny for the past year with a family in Northern Virginia with a 2 year old daughter and 4 year old son. I was also a nanny for a family two summers ago with three boys, ages 1, 3 and 7. Two years ago I worked as the Executive Assistant for the New Horizons Enrichment Camps. During this position, I performed all of the administrative duties and also interacted with the campers (grades 3-8) each day, driving them to parks, helping with programs and the end of the week party for family and friends!

I have been babysitting on and off since I was 14, starting highschool. I have about 8 years of legitimate experience with kids. I babysat 9-5 every day for a summer for a family with two kids while the parents had work. I would say my best experience though is with my family. I have two nieces (2 & 5) and a nephew (8) whom I have taken care of extensively. I used to watch them for my sister all the time - can do diapers, messes, homework, and love playing with them. I have also cooked, done laundry, cleaned, and driven them places they needed to be.
