Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I spent a year in St.Louis working as an aftercare teacher for a Montessori school. I supervised children aged 15 months-12 years old and engaged them in age-appropriate activites while maintaining Montessori principles. During this year I also worked as a babysitter and nanny through an organization called STLSitter, where I worked with children aged 2-13, providing both short-term and long-term care for multiple families. I also have mutliple years of experience teaching dance to students ages 18 months - 18 years. The majority of my experience is with those aged 18 months - 12 years old, but I have worked on occasion with high schoolers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Inside, I love coloring and other arts and crafts, building (big fan of magnetic tiles!), puzzles, and of course dance parties. Outside, I love to go on walks to local parks, if there are any nearby, and I'm a big fan of sidewalk chalk.
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up alongside a brother on the Autism spectrum and have had multiple students in my dance classes who needed extra care or accomidations. I am happy to work with families to adjust any routines we build around childrens specific needs, and am familiar with how having a child with special needs can require patience and adaptability.
