A little bit about me

I am a 21 years old who is interested in the arts and sciences. I am a very tenacious person and pride myself on my professionalism and strong work ethic. When it comes to working with kids, I try to create the most safe and enjoyable environment for them. I have not had an official nanny job previously, however I have worked around kids for the majority of my life. I have babysit my neighbors children (ages 1-7) and have looked after my nieces (ages 4-10) monthly. Currently, I work part-time at a different pottery studio where I help children create artwork, lead birthday parties, and help during summer camps. I may not be a profession artists, but I love crafting, drawing, painting, baking, sewing, and crocheting.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered at a churches nursery in high school where I looked after kids during service hours and helped them through activities. I also volunteered at a pottery studio where I primarily assisted children and adults with different mental/physical disabilities create artwork. Besides volunteer work, I have babysit different neighbors kids and watch my three nieces every month.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love creating artwork with children, whether its painting, drawing, or doing mix-media pieces (tissue paper crafts or pottery). I also enjoy doing outdoorsy activities like going to the park, bike riding, or going swimming in the summer with kids.

My experience with special needs children...

At a pottery studio, I helped kids create hand made pottery pieces. I guided them through activities by sitting and talking them through projects. We created a variety of pieces, such as holiday items (ex. pinch-pot snowmen), trays, and mugs. This experience was very rewards and I learned how to deal with difficult situations and better ways to communicate with others.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Even though I have not had an official nanny position before, one of my favorite moments babysitting was when one of the girls I watched had so much fun drawing with me, she made me a birthday card with all the animals we learned how to draw on it. She express her joy hanging out with me and how she wanted a new set of colored pencils so we can draw more.
