A little bit about me

I have plenty of experience with kids. I started watching kids around the age of 13. I watched those kids every other weekend (aged 6 & 7 now). In my sophomore year of high school I was the only person in my grade to be allowed to student teach in our preschool we had due to my experience and outstanding grades in my childcare classes. I continued that throughout high school for the next 3 years. After graduating I watched a girl who was behind in her year and needed some extra help. She’s 5 years old. I watched her full time from 8am until 4 pm during the week. I then worked at a daycare for around 3 years and got to experience the infants and older preschool rooms but spent my time mainly being a lead toddler teacher for the 2 year olds.

My experience with special needs children...

I watched a 5 year old girl who was a little behind in her learning and her motor skills from a cleft pallet and autism. She didn’t start talking until age 4 and just recently started putting sentences together. She’s also starting to remember colors and numbers with some extra help. She expresses herself through coloring and painting, that’s when she’s most calm and she’s at it for hours. It was such a pleasure teaching her for the summer before kindergarten and helping her come out of her shell
