A little bit about me

My name is Danica. I grew up in Seattle, Washington. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in June of 2013 double majoring in Film & Media Studies and Journalism and minoring in Education (Child development courses). During college I nannied for twins from birth to about 4 years old and the past 5 years I've been babysitting for a family with two sons since they were both newborns. I have a sister who is 14 and have babysat her since she was born. I helped my parents raise her. I have many years of experience in child care- I volunteered for 2 years at my church's nursery caring for infants and taught Sunday school for 2 years. I volunteered at many camps every summer since I was in middle school for kids 3 - 14 years old. I worked at a Sports Club as a Children’s Programs Assistant for 3 summers and I worked in a Kids Club at a Sports Clubs in Southern California and New York for 5 years. During my junior and senior years in college I volunteered at Turtle Rock Elementary School as a first grade teacher aid and also as an after school tutor for ThinkTogether. I love children and would treat yours as if they were my own!

I love kids, they’ve been a big part of my life and I plan to be around them and working with them until I have kids of my own (and even then I hope to be a children’s author). I wouldn’t call myself artistic, but being a babysitter/nanny is a way that I am 100% creative. I am a goofy and silly adult and for kids to appreciate who I am is the best feeling ever. I love teaching and learning from kids!

I have 10+ years experience with kids, but I am not one of those people who thinks they know everything about kids. It's true that you don't really know until you have some of your own, which I don't and I get it. I will never think that I know what is best for your child. I know the importance of wanting to feel secure with leaving your child with someone, because my mom had that with me as my sister's babysitter.
