I volunteered with children 8 and under at church. I babysat my cousin from 2-5 roughly 6 hours a day and all day on weekends when he was with me.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor I love puzzles, legos, and building forts. Outside I like parks, picnics with arts and crafts, and if they read or like books, we read The Boxcar Children and pretend to find things in the backyard that'll help us 'live off the land'. It's important to also enjoy yourself when entertaining kids because they can tell if you're into the game or not, and being engaged makes it more fun.

Being fun while you supervise. Parents provide and protect, and teachers teach. Nannies fill in the gaps with fun times and life lessons that will make childhood memories. Most kids grow up without realizing their nanny is a nanny, and that's the goal.

The last time I babysat was before the pandemic. the kid told me that he was little and he didn't want to grow up because he would forget me. that moment absolutely broke my heart because working with small children, there's always a good chance that they'll forget your face and name, but they won't forget the fun.
