From September 2023-June 2024 I was a morning and afternoon nanny for a 9 year old boy on the spectrum. In that time I also cared for a 5 month old, until she was 1; for 8 hours a week with mom working from home. For three years I was a cheer coach for girls ages 5-12, I worked at a middle school for a year taking care of kids after school mon-fri.

Respect kid's boundaries, and always lookout for the best for them. It’s important to let kids be kids, they are still learning. Be communicative with the parents they put a lot of trust in you.
My experience with special needs children...
Within the last year I spent about 10 months getting a boy ready for school in the mornings, administering medication, being on time, light cleaning, taking him to school. I’d pick him up from school everyday as well and take him to his therapy he had that day and take him home afterwards.

Watching a baby grow from 5 months to a year was one of the sweetest things I’ve experienced. The way she’d recognize me more every week, and watching her learn and grow was so bittersweet, and is such an honor.
