My experience with special needs children...
In the class room I have had children with ADD, ADHD, Fetal Acohol Syndrome, Asthma, Kids on the spectrum (high and low).
Personally, I have an adopted daughter and son that had sever mental issues. One with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and one with Bipolar.

When I was in college I worked briefly as a nanny. The little girl was terrified of bugs. I got her a bug ABC book. Not only did she learn her ABC's she overcame her fear of bugs!!!!!
