A little bit about me

I’m a graduate of San Diego State University. I studied child and family development, as well as women’s studies and gerontology. I have 10 years of both informal and professional child care experience. Before becoming a nanny I worked for SDSU’s licensed and accredited Children’s Center for over a year as an infant/toddler teacher.

After graduating from the program and completing my degree, I went on to be a lead infant/toddler in both San Diego, CA and Richmond, VA (my hometown.)

Sadly, the pandemic forced me to step out of the classroom in 2020 so I began nannying again. However, I found a different kind of joy in working with one family and really getting to know their child and be a part of their growth and development. I am hoping to find a kind, loving family who isn’t afraid of their child getting a little messy or singing all day long.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a lead infant/toddler teacher since completing my undergraduate education in 2018. I have also nannied for families with children as young as newborns and as old as seven years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love incorporating art and nature into play with young children. I run my own art and decor business so anyway I can bring both worlds together is amazing for me. I also enjoy letting the kids get their hands dirty whether that’s exploring different rocks and leaves, or identifying different bugs at the park. New experiences are usually the best experiences.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I like the ability to make a connection with the children and their families in a way that is more personal than it might be as a teacher in a group setting.

My experience with special needs children...

While my experience with children with special needs is limited, I do have a lot of hands on experience caring for people with disabilities. I have been the sole caregiver for my mother who is disabled since 2020. Because of this, I have experience navigating different deficits in speech, motor function, and cognitive ability. I believe that this type of caregiving requires an intentional type of care, love and patience that can’t be taught but is gained over time and experience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was able to catch a child’s first steps for their mom both on camera to keep forever, and in person (she was peeking around a corner.) At this point, the child had walked for everyone (Dad, siblings and grandma) except her so this moment was really special.
